Niche Ranks Council Rock Among Best Districts In Pennsylvania

NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School District has been ranked the third best school district in Bucks County, the 37th best in Pennsylvania and the 508th best in the nation, according to Niche's 2023 List of Best Schools and Districts.

Niche, the leading platform connecting students and families with colleges and schools, has just published its new 2023 Best Schools and Districts rankings. Now in its ninth year, the rankings include updated data for 92,743 public schools, 30,112 private schools, and 11,820 school districts nationwide.

While traditional rankings rely almost exclusively on metrics like test scores and academic performance, Niche’s rankings combine user input — ratings from current students, alumni, and parents — with quantitative data from sources like the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities, extracurricular activity opportunities and more. The 2023 Best Schools rankings include 2,906 newly ranked public schools, 1,018 newly ranked private schools, and 547 newly ranked school districts.

Niche gave the Council Rock School District an A+ for academics, teachers, and college prep, an A for administration, an A- for clubs and activities and a C for diversity.

"Council Rock is a highly rated, public school district. It has 10,494 students in grades K-12 with a
student-teacher ratio of 17 to 1. According to state test scores, 68 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 81 percent in reading," said Niche.

Niche ranked the district the 37th best in Pennsylvania. Council Rock also ranked 16th for best places to teach in Pennsylvania and 12th for the best teachers in Pennsylvania.

Council Rock High School North ranked 30th out of 677 for best public high schools in Pennsylvania, 25th out of 654 for best college prep high schools in Pennsylvania and 9th out of 674 for best high school teachers in Pennsylvania.

Council Rock High School South ranked 54th out of 677 for best public high schools in Pennsylvania, 57th out of 654 for best college prep high schools in Pennsylvania and 28th out of 674 for best public high school teachers in Pennsylvania.

This year, for the first time ever, North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, N.C. has been named the No. 1 Best Public High School in America. It previously came in at No. 2 in 2022 and No. 4 in 2021. Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. remains the No. 1 Best Private High School in America for the third consecutive year. Since Niche first started ranking schools, Phillips Academy has been No. 1 every year except 2015 and 2020.

The top five Best School Districts in America come from just two major metropolitan areas. Adlai E. Stevenson High School District No. 125 in Chicago takes No. 1, followed by Chicago’s Glenbrook High Schools District 225 at No. 2. The remainder of the top five are all located on Long Island in the NYC area: Great Neck Public Schools, Jericho Union Free School District, and Syosset Central School District rank No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 respectively.
