No Attempted Child Luring In Upper Makefield Monday, Police Say

The incident, reported as an attempted child luring, was simply a misunderstanding between neighbors, a police investigation determined.

Upper Makefield Police say they investigated what was reported as an attempted child luring Monday, and determined the incident was a misunderstanding between neighbors.

Police clarified the outcome of the investigation after a widely-shared Facebook post from a parent reporting that there was an attempted child luring in Shires Crossing on Monday that involved a stranger offering candy. The incident was in fact reported to police, who then launched an investigation.

"What occurred was a misunderstanding between neighbors and the parents of the concerned party are aware of the situation. Again, we want to reiterate that this was NOT an attempted child luring incident and to please let your friends and neighbors know the outcome," police said on the department's official Facebook page.
