Council Rock Superintendent Robert Fraser has decided not to recommend implementation of full-day kindergarten in 2017-18 .

It doesn’t look like universal full-day kindergarten will be coming to Council Rock any time soon.

Council Rock Superintendent Robert Fraser has decided not to recommend implementation of full day kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year. The announcement came at a meeting on Nov. 5.

“In the end it’s a value-driven proposition, recognizing that if we had all the money in the world this becomes a no brainer. But we don’t have all the money in the world,” Fraser said, according to a report by BucksLocalNews.com.

Implementation of a modified full-day kindergarten program for students with the highest need will be explored, the website reports.

During a board meeting in October, Fraser provided an overview of elementary school enrollment and outlined the cost and feasibility of full-day kindergarten. District staff then analyzed the data before making its recommendation.

Many in the community were pushing for full-day Kindergarten, which would have required 18 additional classrooms and cost $2.9 million annually.
