Obamacare Advocates To Protest Thursday Outside Congressman Fitzpatrick's Office

A protest against repealing the Affordable Care Act is planned Thursday outside of Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick's Langhorne office.

A protest against repealing the Affordable Care Act is planned Thursday outside of Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s Langhorne office. Fitzpatrick represents Pennsylvania's 8th District, which includes Bucks County.

Protest organizers say they plan to gather at 4 p.m. in front of Fitzpatrick's office on Langhorne-Newtown Road, located just off the Newtown Bypass. They will be advocating for Obamacare, as the ACA has come to be known.

"The grassroots protest will be held outside of Fitzpatrick’s Langhorne office, and will provide an opportunity for concerned citizens to have their voices heard. Additionally, protesters will look to speak with staff concerning saving the ACA, Medicare and Medicaid," according to an announcement.

Earlier this week Republicans released their plan to repeal the ACA.

The American Health Care Act, a bill released by the House GOP and already praised by President Trump as "wonderful," leaves many of the principles of Obamacare in place, while making some adjustments.

People will receive tax credits as subsidies for health care, but they will be based on age rather than income. Insurers will still be barred from denying coverage because of preexisting conditions, and children will be able to stay on their parents' health care plans until they are 26. While there would no longer be a mandate that financially penalizes people for not buying health insurance, insurers will charge anyone who has goes for too long without coverage 30 percent above standard rates.
