Peace Center to Hold ‘Dialogue on Race’ at United Christian Church in Levittown, May 17 at 7 P.M.
Goal is to raise awareness of racism and white privilege
LANGHORNE BOROUGH >> Continuing its 35th anniversary campaign, Speak Up for Peace, The Peace Center will hold another “Dialogue on Race,” at the United Christian Church at 8525 New Falls Road, Levittown on Wednesday, May 17 at 7 p.m.
The Dialogue on Race provides an opportunity, in a safe and supportive environment, to identify concerns about racism, and through discussion, hopefully, dispel myths, misconceptions and judgments regarding stereotypes, symbols, behavior, etc., that do not foster healing, friendship and understanding among all people.
Keith Pacheco, co-facilitator of the dialogue, said, “The goal is generally to raise awareness of racism and related issues such as white privilege in our society.”

He continued, “To address the issue of racism in our society, all people, but white people in particular, need to be intentional about engaging in conversation and education about this issue.
“People of less color need to be intentional about forming relationships with people of more color to learn about their lives and struggles in our society,” he said.

Pacheco invites folks to join the conversation to achieve that.
Rev. Bill Bloom of United Christian Church is the other co-facilitator.
“Spurred by the Black Lives Matter movement,” he said, “We have been looking at the issues of racism and white privilege for more than a year via our anti-racism group, AMEN (All Means Everyone Now).”
He said, “The overreaching goal of events like the ‘Dialogue on Race’ is to promote and foster a better understanding of one another in regards to race, in an effort to eradicate racism.”
