PECO Imposters Trying To Scam Bucks Co. Residents: Police

If someone knocks on your door and says they're from PECO, don't give them any important information. It's a scam, police say.

An important reminder for Bucks County residents: If someone knocks on your door and says they're from PECO and they need important information, don't give it to them. In fact, don't talk to them. Just close the door and report the incident to authorities.

That's the advice offered by local police this week, after numerous residents have reported that imposters pretending to be PECO representatives have come to their homes.

"We have had a few calls over the past couple of days for people going door to door representing themselves as PECO employees and asking about account information," according to Northampton Township Police.

Police there say they have confirmed with PECO that they do not have anyone that goes door to door.

Police advise residents to not engage with such a person if they come to their door, and do not give them any information. Suspicious activity should be reported to your local police department.
