PennDOT Reopens Route 232 Bridge In Bucks Co. Ahead Of Schedule
The span links Northampton and Wrightstown townships and bridges the Neshaminy Creek just west of Swamp Road.
WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — The bridge carrying Route 232 (Second Street Pike) over the Neshaminy Creek in Northampton and Wrightstown townships reopened on Friday ahead of schedule following repairs to its foundation. The bridge had been closed since Tuesday, January 6.
The bridge carrying Route 232 (Second Street Pike) was undermined and the foundation had been compromised. A concrete invert slab was constructed to stabilize the foundation and necessary repairs to the masonry structure were made, according to PennDOT.
The single-span Route 232 (Second Street Pike) bridge was built in 1936. The bridge is 14 feet long, 25 feet wide and carries almost 6,000 vehicles per day.
