Pennswood Village to Hold LEED Certification Event

The Green Celebration and Construction Kick-Off event will be held Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. in the Pennswood Village Community Building.

Pennswood Village will celebrate its LEED Gold rating certification next week with a plaque unveiling event. The Green Celebration and Construction Kick-Off will be held Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. in the Pennswood Village Community Building, 1382 Newtown-Langhorne Rd.

The celebration is free and open to the public.

Pennswood Village received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold rating for its recent renovation of the Barclay House.

The event will also mark the kick off of another green building project. Thie month, Pennswood Village began a renovation of its Community Building. Many of the environmentally-friendly methods, materials, and techniques that were used in the Barclay House renovation will be utilized throughout construction, according to a press release by Pennswood Village.

Tuesday's event will be an opportunity for te public to meet the community's renovation partners and get a glimpse of Pennswood Village’s future. Refreshments will be served.

The LEED Green Building Rating System is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.

Pennswood Village is a continuing care retirement community for those 65 and older. The Friends retirement community is home to more than 450 residents.
