Police, Fire Step Up To The Plate In Newtown For Charity Ball Game
Proceeds from the game will benefit the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The members of the Newtown Emergency Services will step to the plate this Friday in an epic baseball showdown between the Newtown Township Police Department and Newtown Fire Rescue.
The charity softball game, pitting the police against the firefighters, will get underway at 3:15 p.m. at the Newtown Middle School, 116 Newtown-Richboro Road, Newtown 18940. The day will feature a special appearance by the Philadelphia Phillie Phanatic along with food trucks.
Proceeds will benefit the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund, which was established in 1990 by the Bucks County Commissioners. The purpose of the fund is to provide full four-year scholarships for post-high school education to the children of police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, rescue squad, and emergency service personnel who are killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.
