Police Make Arrests In Quad Theft, Retail Theft In Newtown Township
Police conduct two truck enforcement safety details on the Newtown Bypass at Lindenhurst Road.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Oct. 11 and Oct. 16:
October 11
- The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail on the Newtown Bypass and Lindenhurst Road in Newtown Township. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield. During the detail, five trucks were stopped and inspected and two warnings were issued for violations.
October 12

- Two men have been charged with the theft of a quad from a Wrightstown Township residence. They have been charged with receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, loitering, prowling at night, and criminal trespass.
October 13
- Police arrested two men following a theft at the Lululemon store on South Eagle Road. The suspects have been charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property. Police reported that $2,283.36 of the stolen merchandise was recovered.
October 14

- At 10:35 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu for committing a vehicle code violation at the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. Following an investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
October 16
- The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in at the Newtown Bypass and Lindenhurst Road in Newtown Township. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield. During the detail, six trucks were stopped and inspected and one citation and three warnings were issued for violations that were found.
- At 1:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Pontiac sedan for committing a vehicle code violation at Swamp Road and Liberty Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
- At 5 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Nissan pick-up truck for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Buck Road and Mill Pond Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
- At 12:15 p.m. police were contacted about the theft of a check. The investigation is ongoing.
