Popular Newtown Borough Bakery Changing Ownership

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The Caketeria on Washington Avenue is changing hands.

Beth Rubin, who has owned and operated the bakery since 2013, is retiring and transferring the shop’s ownership to Liliya Los, a member of her bakery team.

Rubin made the announcement in a Facebook posting on Sunday.

“After 13 wonderful years, The Caketeria is entering a new chapter. I am delighted to announce a transition in ownership that marks both continuity and innovation for the bakery,” said Rubin.

Rubin said Los, who has spent the past five years as a member of the bakery team, will be bringing her “experience and passion for baking and cake decorating” to her new position, “ensuring that our longstanding commitment to crafting high-quality, visually stunning cakes, cupcakes, and our wonderful team, will be upheld. At the same time, Liliya brings fresh energy and new ideas,” said Rubin.

In 2013, Rubin took over “Felix’s Caketeria” from Felix Papadakis, bringing with her to the bakery 25 years as a seasoned pastry chef, having worked for Annie B’s and Felix’s Caketeria for 12 years.

“I sincerely appreciate your support since 2013," Rubin said of her customers. "As The Caketeria embarks on this new journey, the bakery is eager to welcome you, and continue providing the exceptional treats you’ve come to love. As I move on to spending more time with my grandchildren, I would like to say thank you!”

According to its website, the Caketeria is an artisan bakery that uses "only the finest ingredients to create wedding cakes that taste as fabulous as they look, birthday cakes that are oh so special and all types of celebration cakes from bar mitzvahs to sweet sixteens.”

In addition to its decorative cakes, the bakery offers quick bites, including its daily cupcake flavors.

“From chocolate cupcakes filled with caramel to Elvis’ favorite combination of banana and peanut butter, from pineapple coconut and back to vanilla, The Caketeria’s cupcakes are a step up from the rest,” the shop’s website says.
