WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — The Hometown Deli, a breakfast and lunch staple for years in the Wrightstown community, has closed its doors at the Village at Anchor Crossing at the busy intersection of Routes 413 and 232.

The deli was a go-to place for locals for breakfast sandwiches and platters, and its wide selection of lunch sandwiches, including the Newtown (tuna, bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion), the Buckingham (chicken salad, bacon, lettuce, and tomato) and the Penns Park (pastrami, corned beef, lettuce, tomato, and onion).

The store also carried groceries, served hot coffee and pastries, and sold lottery tickets.

There was no note on the door or message on its social media pages explaining why the business had closed. And a peek inside the window showed the business was pretty much cleaned out, with the exception of deli fixtures and booths, and a Monster drink can sitting on the counter.

According to one Facebook thread, the owners decided to retire and close the business.

“(They) retired and closed for good,” wrote one customer. “Gonna miss them! My favorite local place around here to get breakfast sandwiches and lunch with my family. So happy for them but also sad because they were always so nice!”

Another wrote, “We loved their food …really going to miss them. They were all so nice.”

“Bummer. They made the best sandwiches. Great people as well,” wrote another customer.

Another customer said they’re hopeful that another deli opens up at the shopping center, which is home to the Penns Park Post Office, Dominick’s Pizza, Panda Garden, Alchemy Studio Hair, and several other businesses.
