Prayer Vigil Planned For Bucks Co. Flood Victims

UPPER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —A prayer vigil will be held Thursday for the five victims of the flash flooding over the weekend for the community to "stand in solidarity" with family members who have lost loved ones.

The Upper Makefield Township Police Department announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday that the prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. in the Worship Center of The Crossing Church on 1895 Wrightstown Road in the township's Washington Crossing section.

  • Katheryn Seley, 32, of Charleston, S.C.
  • Enzo DePiero, 78, Newtown Township.
  • Susan Barnhart, 53, Titusville N.J.
  • Yuko Love, 64, Newtown Township.
  • Linda DePiero, 74, Newtown Township.

Buck said the cause of death for all five was drowning with Love also suffering multiple injuries.

"To our Upper Makefield community, we are deeply grieved at the unimaginable pain that these families have suffered as a result of the flash flooding," the church said. "We are thankful for all the first responders who have been working tirelessly to rescue and recover those who were swept away by the flood."

The church said it was pleased to have served as a base over the past few days and that the vigil is a way "to stand in solidarity" with those who have lost loved ones.

All members of the community, regardless of faith or background, are invited to attend the vigil.
The vigil is aimed at bringing the community together and support those who have lost loved ones by offering comfort and support, according to organizers.

In the wake of the flash flooding, the community has come together to express gratitude for the heroic efforts of the emergency responders who have been working tirelessly to rescue and recover those swept away by the floodwaters.

The Upper Makefield Police Department said that the area was hit with a torrential rainstorm, which caused flash flooding along several areas throughout the township.

The worst of the flooding occurred along Rt. 532 in the area of Stonebridge Crossing Road between Aqueduct Road and Wrightstown Road.

Police said the flash flooding caught numerous motorists by surprise and many were trapped with the five victims being swept away into Houghs Creek.
