A REAL Renaissance Faire in your own back yard - You can return the days of damsels in distress, chivalry, and wenches........Why spend $20 on gas and tolls when an entire family can enjoy an authentic renaissance faire right here in Bucks for only $5 a person

Picture a Day with friends and family in a beautiful park setting, reliving the days of damsels in distress, chivalry, and the rise of fine arts through interactive fun, unique period wares, period demonstrations, and seven stages of seemingly endless entertainment. Join your neighbors in Suspending Disbelief this September 19 & 20 on the donated Middletown Grange Fairgrounds right here in Wrightstown, Bucks County for less than it costs to go to a movie.

“The Village Faire is a fun-filled interactive walk back through history that has activities that appeal to visitors of all ages.” says Ken Hone, Faire Founder and Director. Hone continues with a proud grin from ear to ear, within a period of four short years the faire has grown from a whimsical dream to a reality through the partnership with a unique combination of historians, local performers, and professional artists. “Each season we add something new and exciting and this year is no different. Visitors will find it hard to see and do everything the faire ahs to offer in a single day.”

The Village Renaissance Faire is not the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire in Mount Hope Pennsylvania, its better, Hone boasts. “At our faire people become intoxicated on our performers adn good will, a much more sober, enjoyable and safe entertainment for ALL. “ Once one walks though the vine brimmed arches onto the fairgrounds, you cannot help but suspend disbelief as you step into a real period village. The sounds of live harpists, bagpipes, and recorders fill the air as you gaze the village looking for where to go first—and that will be a difficult choice. Live music creates a beautiful backdrop from our three music stages as one walks the grounds. Take in the sounds of lutes, the harp, records and more at almsot every square. In the entrance building fine artisans and youthful ones alike show off their artistry, sights one will surely not want to miss.

Those with young attendees, or are young at heart themselves, can easily spend all day exploring the rites of passage for knighthood, royal performers, or just to adulthood through countless supervised activities. Visitors can enjoy role-playing, foam archery, foam jousting, hunkerhausen, puppetry, marionettes, castle building, period games, contests, and much more. There are games of skill including rat-pult, chickenshot into a pot, jacobs ladder, and every parents favorite- throwing fits.

But that is not all, there are seven more stages where more than a hundred performers awaiting to entire the crowds through Irish Dance, Gypsey Dance, and Ballet at the dance stage, or Shakespeare, arthurian legends, puppetry, story-telling, juggling, or circus arts at others. Of course there is Live Steele combat by armored Knights, armored horseback jousting, aerialists, firebreatehrs, human chess, and even flying brds of prey twice daily.

Perhaps you might want to start the day by riding a pony or taking a carriage ride courtesy of Bucks County Belgians so that you can view all the stages, activities, and living history pavilions. Other animal activities include our Royal petting zoo and pony rides. FOr those who like a soft landing, Merlin has been able to capture air, and create a world of shapes where kids can bounce, clim, and compete.

We have not even mentioned one of the larger troupes, Period Productions, who return for their fifteenth year with yet another original chapter in the ongoing Living Literature of the Village Faire. More than 30 actors don their period armor and garb to tell the medieval tale of the Saxon invasion through ongoing precession, opening, court, archery, and human chess matches. The story begins early and continues throughout the day so do not miss it – it is this weekend only. David Bonovicki, founder of period productions explains that we aim to “educate through entertainment and audience participation.” Off stage, there is a large game board on which a human chess match occurs, often with unsuspecting pawns being drawn from the audience. Knights, jesters, jugglers, minstrels, gypsies, peasants, outlaws, and sheriffs, mingle with the crowds and nobles.

There is also a new Fine Arts Building under the auspices of the Bucks County Wood Turners where 10 artisans will exhibit and display their work both days. They will also be available for talk-backs for those who like to learn, or just admire their craft.

The event will run rain or shine as the donated Middletown Grange Fairgrounds offer ample overhead protection for any inclement weather. Please call Ken Hone for additional or if you are interested in participating in this or next year’s event. Any crafters, exhibitors or vendors interested in participating can also contact Ken as he says he can always make space for more offerings.

On Snuday alone, ken started cosntructions on three(3) new additionala ctivities at teh faire that have not been released anything. Look for them once they are finished.
