A Newtown Township resident filed a report about a fraud. The resident said he received some mail that contained a credit card from Walmart. When he went onto the website to check the account that had been created in his name, it requested his username and password. He did not know the information and requested it, and the website provided an email address and phone number that was not his. The complainant believes that someone opened this account with his personal information and set up a fake email and phone number. A police report was created, and the bank was notified to track any illegal activity that could occur.

February 9
A Newtown Township resident contacted police to report the theft of business files. An investigation is ongoing at this time.

Police responded to Acme Market shortly after 9 p.m. for the report of a retail theft in progress. Upon arrival, police discovered that a man had been caught placing items in a bag. The man agreed to put the items back and proceeded to buy a cart full of items before leaving the store without incident. The male was advised by store employees that he was no longer permitted inside of the store.

A Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a suspicious email she received. She explained that the sender of the email claimed to have embarrassing photographs and information about the complainant and her family. The sender demanded payment in the form of Bitcoins to stop further harassment. Police advised the complainant that this is a known scam and to disregard any contact with the sender, flag the email as junk mail, and then delete it.
