Blue Point Grill Opens Patio, Brings Fresh From The Sea Catches To Bucks Co.
Blue Point Grill in Newtown is welcoming spring with the opening of a 60-seat patio and the freshest seafood catches in the region.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Blue Point Grill is welcoming spring with the freshest seafood catches in the region and the opening of its brand new 60-seat outdoor patio.
“Spring and summer are prime time for seafood, and the Blue Point Grill is the place to eat, especially with Mother’s Day and Father's Day coming up,” said Steve Murray, Blue Point's general manager, who spoke exclusively with Patch about the business and what sets Blue Point apart from the crowd. “People come here to taste our seafood, to taste our oysters. It’s the best quality seafood that’s out there. It's the best quality you're going to find.”
Drawing from its more than 100 seafood purveyors from up and down the East Coast and from every part of the world, Blue Point brings between 12 and 14 varieties of fresh seafood catches to its customers every night, ranging from fresh fish to its second-to-none raw bar.

Jack Morrison, the owner of the Blue Point Grill in Newtown and Princeton and the Nassau Street Seafood and Produce Company in Princeton, is the secret behind Blue Point's success.
“Jack’s whole life has been about sourcing, finding, selling, and sharing the most incredible seafood that’s available locally and around the globe," said Murray.

“When you walk into Nassau Street Seafood, everything that’s on the menu in Newtown is laid out so beautifully in their case," said Murray. "Everything is hand-cut. Everything comes in fresh. Everything comes in whole. Our purveyors know what Jack expects. We get the best of the catch.”

The menu at Newtown offers two distinct sections, said Murray. One is dedicated to the Princeton concept - “fresh, beautiful seafood” featuring 10 to 15 varieties each night. The other section spotlights its featured entrees, which include between six and eight different composed dishes each night.
"At Blue Point Grill, we believe in keeping things fresh, simple, and delicious. Every dish is crafted to highlight the true taste of the sea – that’s the Blue Point Grill experience," said Murray.
The menu changes daily, featuring the freshest seafood available, alongside beloved classics like New England Clam Chowder and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes.
“Everything is fresh, hand-cut, portioned on site, and delivered to your table. Our menus feature anything available to us," said Murray. "Every time you come in here, the menu is going to be a little different.”
One of the stars of the Bluepoint menu is its raw bar and oysters. “Outside of New York City, you will not find a raw bar anywhere near what we do on a nightly basis. The selection is incredible," said Murray.
“We will have anywhere between eight and 15 varieties of oysters on the half shell every single night, ensuring there's always something new to try," said Murray. "We generally carry East Coast from New Jersey up to Canada. Occasionally, we do get West Coast oysters in as well. Just at this location, we sell about 3,000 oysters a week.”
One of Blue Point's best-kept insider secrets is its Oyster and Wine Mondays, which feature discounted oysters, oyster tastings, and oyster wine pairings.
“People who come in on Monday absolutely love it. Oysters are one of our specialties here," said Murray. "And every single time a person comes in here, chances are there’s going to be a new oyster they haven’t tried yet.”
Complementing the fresh catches is a full-service bar. Unlike its sister restaurant in Princeton, which is BYOB, Newtown has a liquor license and a full-service 10-seat bar.

“The difference is at Newtown, you can have a martini with your beautiful piece of halibut,” Murray said. “We like to be known as a restaurant that happens to have a bar. We’re true to Blue Point Grill and what got us here.”
Enhancing the dining experience this spring and summer is Blue Point’s new patio, which brings with it a summertime feeling and a space where seafood can be enjoyed in its natural setting - the outdoors.
“It brings you to the beach, brings you to those cool little seafood houses down at the shore. Seafood is an outdoor cuisine, so adding the patio is just natural,” said Murray.

The Blue Point Grill, which opened in August 2023 inside the former Corner Bakery on West Drive, is owned and operated by Morrison, who has been in the seafood industry for more than 40 years.
Morrison began working at the Philadelphia Fish Market 50 years ago and quickly fell in love with everything about seafood, from the sourcing to quality.
“Just being in the controlled chaos of the fish market at 4 in the morning, he fell in with sourcing and seeing the best of the best. He could very easily differentiate a spectacular piece of fish to one that’s just okay," said Murray.
After Jack and his wife moved to the Princeton area in the early 1980s, he opened Nassau Street Seafood and Produce Company. “If you walk in there today, it’s not that much different than it was four decades ago,” said Murray.
Morrison opened the 45-seat Blue Point Grill in Princeton in 1999. They later expanded the restaurant to 175 seats, including outdoor patio seating.
