Revised Winery Plans Moving Toward Approval In Wrightstown

WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — The owners of Rienzi Estate Vineyard and Winery are back before the township, this time seeking approvals for a scaled back operation at 550-580 Swamp Road.

After hearing a brief update at its September work session, the board of supervisors agreed to send a letter supporting the winery’s amended application now pending before the zoning hearing board.

The winery will be seeking an amended application that would retain an existing house previously slated for demolition and a driveway proposed for removal.

They will also show that the winery is now cultivating more than five acres of grapes, the minimum amount required for a winery operation in the township.

Revised plans include the construction of a 3,000 square foot production and public tasting space. The original plan also called for a catering hall for weddings and special events, which is no longer part of the plan.

Following an outcry from neighbors, the zoning board granted only part of the relief they needed for the project.

The winery is scheduled to appear before the zoning hearing board later this month. Its plans will then go before the planning commission and the board of supervisors for land development approvals.

Joseph Rienzi is the heart and soul behind Rienzi Estate Vineyard & Winery. He has dedicated his life to mastering both the vineyard and winemaking.

In 2016, Joseph made a career switch to pursue his passion, earning a degree in Viticulture and Enology from Harrisburg Area Community College. He then spent six years as a viticulturist and vineyard manager at a 30-acre Pennsylvania estate, gaining hands-on experience in vineyard management and winemaking.

Since founding Rienzi Estate, Joseph has overseen every aspect of the vineyard and cellar, from tending vines and hand-harvesting grapes to crafting and bottling each wine.

Today, every bottle of wine that’s produced reflects Joseph’s expertise, passion, and deep connection to the land, bringing Pennsylvania-grown grapes to life in wines that are expressive, balanced, and uniquely our own.

What began in 2012 with just 100 vines has grown into several thousand, each carefully nurtured over the years. Through hands-on experimentation with different grape varieties, we’ve learned both the art of winemaking and a profound respect for the land that makes it possible.

“Our vineyard is not yet open to the public but we are working toward creating a future space where visitors can stroll the vines, enjoy intimate tastings, and connect with our winemaking firsthand,” said Joseph.
