School of Rock Newtown rocking the Green Parrot
Local bands and aspiring performers reach for the spotlight during the Green Parrot Restaurant Pub & Patio's Wednesday Open Mic Nights
Mike Dougherty Productions is proud to partner with The Green Parrot Restaurant Pub & Patio, 240 N. Sycamore St., presenting the Fall installment of Open Mic Wednesdays.
School of Rock Newtown music director Rob Groden rocks the Green Parrot Restaurant Pub & Patio each Wednesday night, while many of his students join other performers vying for top Open MIc night honors.
“Open Mic nights are a great opportunity not only to play but to see other acts play. It also lets people know what we’re doing here at the school,” Groden said of the weekly gig on the Green Parrot deck.

Talent promoter Mike Dougherty agrees with Groden. “The open mic night is a great opportunity for talent of all ages. We’re also looking to spotlight more local bands,” Dougherty said.
Green Parrot audience members choose weekly winners, who get the chance to be a featured performer on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

All talent is welcome at Open Mic Wednesdays – singer, songwriter, cover or comedy. Prepare for three songs or 10 to 15 minutes. The number of songs will vary depending on the number of contestants. Sign-ups are at 7:30 p.m. with show time at 8 p.m.
Located at 240 N. Sycamore St. in historic Newtown Township, the Green Parrot Restaurant, Pub and Patio serves new American cuisine with an Irish flair and has been named the Bucks Happening 2013 Spot for Singles, Sports Bar Finalist, Irish Pub Finalist and People Watching Pub.
