SCHRIER CAPTURES U.S.A. AMBASSADOR STATE TITLE

LOCAL BUSINESS WOMAN & BCOC BOARD MEMBER WINS MS. PA AMBASSADOR 2016 title; promotes combating poverty and homelessness.

Newtown area resident, Cheryl Schrier, was recently crowned Ms. Pennsylvania U.S.A. Ambassador 2016 in Altoona, PA and will move on to represent the Keystone State at the U.S.A. Ambassador national pageant to be held July 27-31st at the Innisbrook Resort in Tampa, Florida. She will compete to win the prestigious title of Ms. U.S.A. Ambassador 2016 and the opportunity to nationally promote her platform, in addition to a generous prize package. Titleholders in the charity based U.S.A. Ambassador pageant system spend their year of service promoting their community service platform. A part of her personal and professional life, Cheryl will continue to promote her platform “Combating Poverty & Homelessness.” As a Board member of the Bucks County Opportunity Council, as well as a volunteer for the Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter, she utilizes her small business as a vehicle through which she educates and engages her employees, customer and vendors to join in combating poverty & homelessness. She served in a leadership and design role to build a new shelter kitchen, and volunteers along with her family at the shelter. Her goal is inspire other small business owners locally and nationally to sponsor a local non-profits that combats poverty & homelessness so that we restore and enhance commerce in our communities from within. A registered nurse by background with a passion to serve, Schrier is currently Vice President of Newtown based Building Control Systems & Services, Inc., a union electrical contracting firm specializing in controls installation. She is also a Managing Member of 103 N State, LLC, and serves as President of the Atrium at Newtown Condominium Association. She is a member of the Newtown Rotary Club, as well as the Newtown Business Association and the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce. Philadelphia's SmartCEO magazine has named her as a 2016 Brava Award recipient, to be presented on July 12th at the Crystal Tea Room. According to SmartCEO, "Brava award winners combine their irrepressible entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for giving back to the community and are exemplary leaders of both their companies and their communities. They encourage local philanthropy and mentor up-and-coming leaders..." She was also recognized in January by Soroptimist International of Indian Rock as their 2016 Woman of Distinction, in addition to receiving the 2016 Community Service Award from the Newtown Business Association. “My aspiration is to be an inspiration to others. Bringing my years of successful business management experience to light, surviving thyroid cancer, losing 65 pounds, and seeing an opportunity to promote my passion for combating homelessness, I felt compelled to compete and share my story.” This title is Schrier's second state win, as she was crowned Mrs. Pennsylvania International in 2015. The founding ideal of the U.S.A. Ambassador system is S.L.I.C.C., standing for Success through Leadership, Integrity, Character and Confidence. Jackie Russo, PA U.S.A. Contestants compete in Interview Competition, which is valued at 35% of her overall score, Evening Gown, valued at 25% and U.S.A. Fashion Wear for 25%. Each contestant also competes in an Onstage Chat, responding to a prepared question, which is valued at 15% of the total score. Cheryl enjoys target shooting, golfing, biking, fishing, vegetable gardening and healthy cooking, and resides in Upper Makefield Township with her husband and business partner Tom.
