Service Academy Information Session For Bucks County Students Scheduled For Sept. 10

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick will host an information session for Bucks and Montgomery county students seeking nominations to United States Service Academies on September 10 from 9 a.m. to noon. The session will be held at Bucks County Community College's Newtown Campus, in the Gallagher Room.

Fitzpatrick and his staff will be joined by representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. There also will be representatives from the Reserve Officers Training Corps, together with cadets and midshipmen who can talk about their experiences in the different programs.

“I encourage students interested in a service academy to join us on September 10th,” said Fitzpatrick.“We will guide students through the rigorous process towards earing an academy nomination. I look forward to meeting students interested in serving our armed forces.”

The 2016 class included 36 nominees with recommendations to four service academies. Recommendations are assisted by Fitzpatrick’s Nomination Committee, which includes active duty and retired military members from the Eighth District.

While the session is primarily intended for high school seniors and their parents, sophomores and juniors seeking more information can also attend.
