Shapiro Wins State Attorney General Race
Democrat Josh Shapiro has a mess to clean up following Kathleen Kane's departure.

Democrat Josh Shapiro has been elected as the next Pennsylvania Attorney General, a position that comes with much baggage.
Shapiro overcame his opponent Republican state Sen. John Rafferty Jr. to helm the state's legal team.
Shapiro is a former former state representative from the 153rd legislative district who has served in as the Montgomery County Co missioners Chairman.

Shapiro has never acted as a prosecutor, but promises to take on issues such as the opiate epidemic, guns legislation, and reform the criminal justice system.
"Thank you, Pennsylvania," Shapiro said on his Twitter page. "I am honored and humbled by your support and I am proud to be the Attorney General for all Pennsylvanians."

Shapiro takes over for interim Attorney General Bruce Beemer, who was appointed to the position by Gov. Tom Wolf after Kathleen Kane stepped down on Aug. 17 after being convicted on charges including two felony perjury charges, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice after Kane leaked memos from her office.
