With Sirens Wailing, Firefighters Escort Santa Through Newtown

Santa gives his reindeer the day off as he rides through town aboard Utility 45.

NEWTOWN, PA — With sirens wailing, Santa rolled through Newtown on Saturday aboard Utility 45 waving to children and parents who were alerted by the clatter.

This was the 22nd year the Newtown firefighters have escorted Santa through town on the weekend before the big day.

Waving from his sleigh set up on Utility 45, Santa greeted his fans as the fire brigade wound its way through Newtown Borough and Newtown Township.

The Santa Run visited every neighborhood on Saturday with the firefighters pausing only for lunch and dinner.

“Just wanted to thank the community for coming out and saying hi to Santa today,” wrote the firefighters on their Facebook page.
