There is a slight chance we could see some snow this afternoon in the Philadelphia region. If the winter weather materializes, commuters should be mindful of possible slippery road conditions.

A special weather statement has been issued in Philadelphia, Chester, and Delaware counties.

According to the National Weather Service: "light snow will continue across much of the area into this afternoon. Snow amounts are expected to be generally an inch or less which could cause some slippery spots on untreated roadways."

According to the NWS forecast, there is currently a 50 percent chance of snow showers before 4 p.m. in some areas.

After that, expect mostly cloudy skies that will gradually become clear. A low temperature of around 25 degrees is expected.

Here is the forecast:

Today: A slight chance of snow showers between 1pm and 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 25. West wind 3 to 5 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. West wind around 7 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 37. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 22.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 35.
