Explore Teens and Technology at 'Smartphones to Social Media' Event

The free event, to be held Tuesday at Newtown Middle School, will cover the impact of social media on teens.

Kids with smartphones and hundreds of social media sites with new ones created every day...

How are parents supposed to keep up and control the images, messages and online risks that are reaching their children in this increasingly complex world? There are no easy answers, but on Tuesday, February 24 parents are invited to attend the “Smartphones to Social Media” event for a discussion about the role of technology in children’s lives and practical ways that parents can help kids to learn to navigate this new world safely.

Held at Newtown Middle School at 7 p.m., this event will be led by Matt Frederickson, CRSD’s Director of Information Technology and Laurie Zila, Counselor and CARES coordinator at Newtown Middle School. Mr. Frederickson and Ms. Zila will be sharing information and facilitating a conversation about the impact of social media on our youth today and what we as parents can do to help keep kids safe.
