Snow Angels from Newtown's Troops 29 and 99 Are "Neighbors Helping Neighbors"

Boy scouts from Troops 29 and 99 grabbed their shovels to do a good turn in the community assisting their elderly and disabled neighbors.

Once again boy scouts from Troops 29 and 99 joined forces as part of Newtown Township’s Snow Angels program. Shovels in hand, the boy scouts fanned out through the township including the Newtown Grant, Nob Hill, and Colonial Commons neighborhoods. The scouts not only dug out those who had registered with the program, they also pitched in to help an additional eight home owners who were struggling with the cold temperatures and weight of the late winter snow and ice.

A grateful resident of Aspen Court resident sang their praises “the Snow Angels are a particular blessing for us. We are both in our eighties, and my husband is also disabled. You and your scouts provide a remarkable service for the community, and we certainly appreciate it."

Participants from Troop 29 which is chartered by Lutheran Church of God’s Love, included scouts Ray DiFiori, Will Shikrallah, David Kunz, Alex Marcopolus and David DiFiori; with adult volunteers Mike DiFiori, Dave Kunz and Bill Shikrallah. Snow Angels from Troop 99, chartred by Newtown Grant Home Owners Association, included scouts AJ Fiore, Andrew Espenshade, Colin Chaar, Michael Kiedaisch, Tony Gambescia, Will Shaulis, Matt Mannino, Tristin Kilgore, Max Ondik, Michael Wysznewski, Kurt Wessner, and Shree Kumar; with adult volunteers Dave Espenshade, James Fiore, Joseph Mannino, Mike Kiedaisch, Mike Ondik, Tim Kilgore, Tom Chaar, and Tony Gambescia.
