The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Philadelphia region ahead of snow in the Tuesday forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Philadelphia region ahead of possible accumulating snow on Tuesday.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in place in several Eastern Pennsylvania counties, including Bucks, Delaware, Philadelphia, Chester, Montgomery, Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton. It is in place starting at 4 a.m. Tuesday and extending through midnight.
Some parts of the state, particularly in the Poconos and Lehigh Valley, could see as much as six to eight inches of snow. In Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs, expect between one and three inches, the NWS predicts.

As far as timing goes, snow is expected to overspread the region on Tuesday morning. It should mix with with rain, then completely change to rain by the afternoon, the NWS said. Precipitation will likely transition back to snow on Tuesday evening before coming to an end late Tuesday night.

"Be prepared for slippery roads and walkways," the NWS said in its Winter Weather Advisory, noting "the hazardous conditions could impact both the morning and evening commutes."
Here is this week's forecast, according to the NWS:
This Afternoon: Sunny, with a high near 35. East wind around 6 mph.
Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 24. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph after midnight.
Tuesday: A chance of snow before 10am, then rain between 10am and 5pm, then rain and snow after 5pm. High near 40. South wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tuesday Night: Snow, mainly before 1am. Low around 20. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 9 to 14 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Wednesday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. West wind 8 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 5.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 14.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 8.
Friday: A chance of snow after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15.
