Snow Expected Wednesday, Winter Storm Watch Issued For Eastern PA

Forecasters with the NWS have issued a Winter Storm Watch for Eastern PA, where accumulating snow is expected Wednesday. Details:

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued across the Philadelphia region for accumulating snow expected Wednesday

The watch is in place from Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night. Between three to five inches of snow is possible, the National Weather Service said in an announcement of the Winter Storm Watch issued Monday.

The NWS said to expect "heavy mixed precipitation." In addition to the snow, a light
glaze of ice is possible.

The storm could impact both the morning and evening commute, making travel "very difficult," the NWS said.

For now, here's the forecast:

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 22. Northwest wind 7 to 16 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 37. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Wednesday: Snow, mainly after 10am. High near 33. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Wednesday Night: Freezing rain and sleet before 9pm, then rain or freezing rain between 9pm and 11pm, then rain after 11pm. Low around 32. North wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: A chance of rain before 1pm, then a slight chance of showers after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 52. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 45.
