Special Meeting Scheduled To Review Steeple View Phase 2 Plans
Newtown Borough has scheduled a public meeting to review the preliminary plans for the second phase of the South State Street project.

Newtown Borough has scheduled a special public meeting to review the preliminary plans for the second phase of the Steeple View project. The meeting will be held on Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Chancellor Center, 30 N. Chancellor Street, Newtown.
Construction on the first phase of the South State Street project is underway. That phase includes the construction of a three-story building with retail and residential uses at the former Stockburger site on South State Street. The first phase was approved by the borough in 2013.
Development approvals are still needed for the second phase, which includes additional retail, office and residential space as well as a parking garage and public piazza in the area behind the Starbucks and Newtown Hardware House.

The plans for phase two include destruction of the current Centre Avenue building that now houses the state liquor store and beer distributor. The state store has an agreement with the developer to relocate within the Steeple View development.
A creek walk is also proposed.
