When one thinks of a community staple, it is ultimately based on the product, the customer experience, or both. When walking into the Zebra Striped Whale (ZSW) Ice Cream shop in Newtown Borough, both are definitely at play. ZSW is a kitchey, quaint, all-Newtown place where one's taste buds get immediately tempted by the sweet smells when you walk in. For a tasty treat, you can try their delicious ice cream, amazing crepes with a host of accoutrements, a sundae, etc.; none of which will disappoint. For a truly incredible tasting experience, select an ice cream and ask for the toppings to be mixed in on their frozen granite slab. Once you make your decision, the rest is handled by the kind and polite staff, clearly an expectation set forth by the even more accommodating owner (she gives my daughter extra toppings :). ZSW is clean, inviting, and warm, and will put a smile on the faces of kids and adults alike.
