Steve Santarsiero to Run for Congress
Santarsiero, a Democrat who represents Newtown in Harrisburg, has reportedly filed papers to run for congress.

State Rep. Steve Santarsiero will run for congress in 2016, according to reports.
Santarsiero, a Democrat who represents Newtown in Harrisburg, has filed papers to run for the 8th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The seat is now held by Republican Mike Fitzpatrick, who has said he will not run for reelection in 2016.
Elected as State Representative in 2008, Santarsiero was reelected in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

The Lower Makefield resident previously served on that township’s Board of Supervisors. Santarsiero is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he received his J.D. He received a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a masters in education from Holy Family University, according to his online bio.
