Storms Likely All Week As 'Unusual' Weather Pattern Returns To PA
An unusual jet stream pattern that caused last week's stormy weather returns. Expect the same thing this week, forecasters say.

Think this week's weather has to be better than last week's? Don't get your hopes up.
An unusual jet stream pattern that prompted widespread rain and storms across the Northeast last week returns, and could cause additional localized flooding issues in Pennsylvania, forecasters predict.
While we had a nice weekend of plenty of sunshine to dry out the rain-soaked roads and lawns, expect more wetness this week, when there is a chance of thunderstorms every day through at least Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the week, saying downpours Tuesday through Friday could be heavy enough to cause localized flooding.
AccuWeather reports that tropical moisture will once again surge northward between a slow-moving storm and a strong area of high pressure. "That will lead to sticky conditions and rounds of drenching showers and thunderstorms streaming from the south to the central Appalachians and the mid-Atlantic through most of the week," AccuWeather said in a news release.

The Weather Channel said the pattern is "unusual" for this time of year and will result in stormy weather for the East. "This week's weather pattern is somewhat similar to the one that fueled severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in portions of the South and East last week," The Weather Channel reports.
"A piece of energy riding through the jet stream will cause it to become amplified in a north-to-south fashion east of the Rockies early this week. In the summertime, the jet stream usually flows in a flatter west-to-east pattern near the Canadian border, so that's why this jet stream is unusual," according to the Weather Channel.
Residents in Pennsylvania, which was hit hard by flooding last week, should not let their guard down, AccuWeather warned. "There is the potential for heavy enough rain to renew flooding problems," the news release said.
