Students from China help harvest produce at America's Grow-a-Row for our Neighbors in Need

America's Grow-a-Row had a group of volunteers from China come to their farm last Friday. The group was affiliated with Advantage-USA, a program that's mission is to "connect the world through global education and cultural alliance experiences".

The 13 and 14 year-olds from China came to America's Grow-a-Row to learn about the strong role that volunteering plays in our culture and to get their hands dirty and do some good. Together, the 34 volunteers each harvested a variety of produce and filled bags with their healthy goodies. Next, they delivered them to Fisherman's Mark, a local food pantry in Lambertville NJ. Recipients received red and green cabbage, zucchini, yellow squash, peppers, peaches and more.

At the end of the day, the students reflected on their hard work. It was hot and tiring, but the group agreed that it was worth it to get healthy food to individuals in need - a message that breaks any language barrier and that can be shared across all cultures.

America’s Grow-a-Row, through its 6,000+ volunteers, plants, harvests and distributes over 1.2 million pounds of free produce to residents in need all across New Jersey each year.
