Summer-Like Weather On The Way To PA, But Will It Last?

It looks like we're in for a dose of summer this week as temperatures will climb into the 80s by Wednesday in Eastern Pennsylvania.

With the start of May comes some warm and pleasant weather. While we had a cool start to the week, with temperatures in the 50s on Sunday and a high of about 60 predicted for Monday, expect things to warm up by Tuesday, May 1. A high of 78 is predicted then.

On Wednesday, the heat really gets turned up with a high in the low eighties.

And by Thursday and Friday, you'll want to break out the shorts and tank tops with highs in the upper 80s predicted. We're also looking at plenty of sun beginning Tuesday through Friday.

The Weather Channel, in its monthly outlook for May, says the first week of the new month will bring "anomalously warm" temperatures to the Northeast.

We shouldn't expect this to last for the entire month though, forecasters say.

The above-average temperatures that will begin the month in the East may be tough to sustain, Weather Channel meteorologists say. "There are several signals that the recent colder trend in the eastern U.S. over the last few months will return after the first week of May."

Here is the local weather forecast for Eastern Pennsylvania:

Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. Northwest wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 42. West wind 5 to 9 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 78. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 53. West wind 5 to 8 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 5 to 9 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 86.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Friday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.
