An anonymous donor contacted the borough saying he or she would provide a matching donation of up to $2,000 for the swing set. The borough decided to spend $5,000 for the project and the Newtown Rotary Club offered to pitch in $1,000.
Now, the borough needs $2,300 to make up the difference. While Council President Julia Woldorf said the borough is not soliciting donations, it can and will accept them for the swings.

Council members suggested the borough hold a fundraiser to make up the remaining monies for the swings, such as selling t-shirts at the upcoming Movies in the Park series. The Movies in the Park series, which begins June 21, will be held at Linton Memorial Park.
Frank Brassell of the Newtown Corporation, who was in attendance at Tuesday’s meeting, said the organization could help by notifying their members and accepting donations under the 501(c)3 umbrella.
No decision was made Tuesday if there would be a formal fundraising effort.
