There are few words in the English language that can accurately describe the experience of night #3 of the Eras Tour. The only one that comes to mind that truly sums everything up is, “WOW”!
Taylor Swift’s Era’s tour left Philly the way it came in, with a bang. Playing in front of over 220,000 fans at Lincoln Financial Field over three nights, Taylor’s 3 ½ hour set on Sunday night not only didn’t disappoint; rather it left fans utterly speechless to describe the evening in a way that the layperson could understand. It was the song arrangements, the movie-budget stage production, the light-up wristbands, and the fanatical energy of the sold-out crowd. More than that, however, it was Taylor’s ability to make an enormous stadium feel like a living room. Taylor, in her never ending and steadfast desire to connect with her fans, played and sang from just about every location on the long stage so that fans near and far could see her and feel her musical genius up close. She made eye contact, smiled, and entertained in a manner that was fun and seemed spontaneous, but it was anything but. Taylor’s incredible and earth shattering 45 song set was detailed and choreographed to a “T” and was aimed at intentionally taking each member of the crowd on a magical journey through the stages of her career. This is where the pure genius of Taylor’s deliberate emotional connection came into play and resonated with the crowd.
We all know that Taylor Swift has solidified herself in the history of popular music as an icon. She has an excellent voice, is a talented musician, and a brilliant song writer. She has sold millions upon millions of albums, won too many awards to count, and has one of most loyal and fierce fan-bases in all of entertainment. She has crossed over from country to pop and has done so in way never seen before. What we saw from Taylor at this stage of her career, however, is so far advanced from what everyone thought or predicted, maybe everyone except for Taylor.

Her musical and lyrical maturity has manifested into legit, elite stage presence, dominating crowds of absolute insane fans while delivering spot-on musical quality. Fans engaged in absolute mayhem-level screaming and dancing from the opening to the closing song, singing every lyric in unison throughout. Taylor basked in the environment but did make it clear that she was beyond honored and humbled to have the opportunity to play in front of such crowds that connect to her in such a special way.
I could review every song and detail, but that would take away from the clear, overarching theme of her dominance. She’s the female Michael Jackson of this generation, or maybe even more, the bonafede “Queen of Pop”. Taylor Swift is the “girl next door” who refused to listen to naysayers or give up on herself, and instead, doubled down to become one of the best performers and song writers in the history of music; a statement that may have seemed ridiculous years ago but not so much anymore.
