Theft At 7-11, Robbery Of Occupied Car: Newtown Township Police Report
Police also reported more mailbox theft issues, check forgery incidents and a domestic disturbance that led to an arrest.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Newtown Township Police reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 20 and Jan. 26:
January 20
- Police were dispatched to 7-11 at approximately 1:15 p.m. for the report of a theft. As a result of the investigation, one subject was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff's Department and was also charged with theft and receiving stolen property in connection to the incident.
- At approximately 2 p.m. police received the report of a theft that occurred in July 2022 from the outside mailboxes at the Newtown Post Office. Checks were stolen and fraudulently cashed. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
January 21

- Police were dispatched to the Acme Market around 12:30 p.m. for the report of a retail theft in progress. As a result of an investigation, one subject was taken into custody and charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.
- Police were dispatched to WSFS Bank around 1 p.m. for the report of a fraud in progress. As a result of an investigation, one subject was taken into custody and charged with forgery, using a counterfeit access device, passing bad checks, and theft by deception.
January 22
- At approximately 12:45 a.m. police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one subject was taken into custody and charged with simple assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, and harassment.
- At approximately 11:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Corvette operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Cliveden Drive. Upon speaking with the operator, the officer observed signs of impairment. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit to chemical blood testing. Charges are pending.
January 24

- At approximately 10:15 a.m. a Newtown Township resident reported a fraud involving forged checks. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
January 25
- The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in the area of Lookout Park in Upper Makefield Township. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield. During the detail, nine trucks were stopped and inspected and two were placed out of service. Three citations and nine warnings were issued for violations that were found.
- At 2:30 p.m. a Wrightstown Township resident reported a fraud attempt. The resident told police that he received a call from someone claiming to work for Comcast. The caller said there was something wrong with the resident’s internet router and requested remote access to the resident’s computer. The resident granted them access and was told he would be contacted the next day. The caller called back the next day and advised that the resident was overcharged and that they’d return the money, but needed his bank account information. The resident shared his bank account information, but then became weary. He contacted the bank to change his account information once he realized it was a scam.
January 26
- At approximately 8:30 police were dispatched to the area of Cambridge Lane and Richboro Road for the report of a robbery of an occupied vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
