Three Children Rescued From Icy Water In Bucks County

The three friends were playing on a retention basin at The Highlands in Chalfont when they fell through the ice.

Three children were rescued Sunday afternoon after falling through a frozen retention basin in Chalfont.

The incident was reported just after 2 p.m., when police and divers were called to The Highlands in Chalfont, near Simon Butler Elementary School, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Two 13-year-olds and another juvenile, whose age was not reported, fell into the water and were transported to local hospitals, the Inquirer said.

The three friends were playing on the ice that had frozen on top of a 15-foot retention basin, 6 ABC said.

Neighbors pulled one boy to safety and the other two were rescued by the Chalfont Fire Department.

The boys have hypothermia, but will be okay, a family member told 6ABC.
