Tiny Washington Xing Bridge Damaged By Oversized Truck
The tiny Washington Crossing bridge was damaged by an oversized truck Friday, and was briefly closed for repairs.

The Washington Crossing Bridge was closed briefly Friday for repairs after an oversized truck damaged it.
The bridge is now open to vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic following the emergency repairs, authorities with the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission said around 5 p.m. Friday.
The driver ignored posted signs advising of the bridge’s height and width limits, hitting and dislodging a steel overhead detection bar on the New Jersey side of the bridge, according to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

A bridge officer there to enforce the height and weight limit attempted to stop the truck driver, but his efforts were ignored, officials said. The driver has been cited by New Jersey State Police.
The damage resulted in the temporary shutdown of the bridge, which connects County Route 546 in Hopewell Township with Rt. 532 in Upper Makefield Township.
