Tri-Township Falls In Championship Game of Babe Ruth World Series
The Tri-Township U15 was defeated 3-1 by Tri-Valley, a team from California. The game went into extra innings.
Tri-Township was defeated 3-1 by California's Tri-Valley in the championship game of the Babe Ruth World Series on Saturday.
The game was a pitcher's duel between Tri-Valley starter Sam Nathan and Tri-Township's Dalton Smoot. The tandem matched zeroes until the bottom of the sixth, when Tri-Township's Robert Knox drilled an RBI double that scored Devan Birch with the first run of the game. Knox was thrown out at third.
Nathan gave up a lead-off single to Robbie Welhaf to start the seventh and was relieved by Soltis. Welhalf moved to third following a sacrifice bunt by Sneed and a ground out, but Soltis struck out Jake Connor to send the game to the eighth.
