Tri-Township Wins Three In A Row At World Series

The Tri-Township U15 baseball team is now 3-0 in the Babe Ruth World Series, which is being held this week in Jamestown, N.Y. Ten of the top teams in the U15 age group are competing for the national title.

The local team on Monday beat Centralia, Wash. by a score of 4-3.

Tri-Township, the Mid-Atlantic Regional champions, scored all four runs in the bottom of the first inning and winning pitcher Jacob Connor and reliever Robert Welhaf worked their way out of several tough spots to head into their off day unbeaten.

Robert Knox had a triple and a double and drove in a run, and Logan Sneed had two hits and an RBI for Tri-Township.

Tri-Township opened the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the first inning, courtesy of an RBI triple by Knox, a sacrifice fly by Brad Stoltzfus and an RBI single by Sneed.

Centralia scored a run in the top of the second and then cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fifth. In the end though, Tri-Township held on for the win.

Tri-Township will take on Sarasota, Fla. Wednesday at 2:35 p.m.
