NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — It’s an eclectic musical weekend at the historic Newtown Theatre. The tunes start on Friday and run through Sunday. The three concerts include:

  • “An Evening with Loudon Wainwright” on Friday, October 4 at 8 p.m. This musical legend rose to fame when “Dead Skunk” became a top 20 hit in 1972. He has since recorded 27 albums, including his 2009 Grammy Award-winning “High Wide & Handsome.” Loudon sums up a lifetime of achievements in music this way: “When I made my first record for Atlantic in 1969, I wanted to make not only a recording, but a document that captures a moment. Now, 50 years later, I guess I still want to make a testament of songs, and I like to think they might last a while.”
  • “A Tribute to The Allman Brothers & Grateful Dead” featuring Steal Your Peach on Saturday, October 5 at 8 p.m. This band fuses the music of two of rock’s most legendary acts. The band pays close attention to the details of the original music while adding its own improv to the mix, making each show a one-of-a-kind musical experience.
  • “Let’s Get It On: Celebrating the Music of Marvin Gaye & Motown” on Sunday, October 6 at 3 p.m. This special matinee concert features Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jackie’s Boy performing the music of the late great Marvin Gaye and other Motown artists.

Tickets for all of these concerts are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com . Beer, wine, and canned cocktails will be available for purchase at the theatre before and during the shows.

The theatre is located at 120 N. State Street in Newtown Borough. For the latest news about the Newtown Theatre visit TheNewtownTheatre.com .
