Troop 99 Eagle Scout Alex Perkins

Alex Perkins, son of Michelle and Scoutmaster Emeritus Michael Perkins of Newtown, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Alex performed his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project in the National Cemetery at Washington Crossing.

He designed and installed a memorial to recipients of the Medal of Honor. Alex was drawn to the project in the cemetery because of his interest in the military and because of family members who have previously and are currently serving in the armed forces. The bronze plaque is inscribed with quote from President John F. Kennedy and the images of the Army, Navy and Air Force versions of the award.

Alex was active with his troop serving a quartermaster and camping at Haliburton Scout Reserve in Canada and earning the lightfighter tab at the Scoutmasters Council’s West Point Invitation Camporee. He attended two BSA National Jamborees; the Centennial Jamboree at Fort A. P. Hill and the inaugural one at the Summit Bechtel Reserve.

Troop 99 Scoutmaster Emeritus John Rosse said “I have known Alex since he was 2 and I couldn’t be more proud of him making Eagle Scout. It wasn’t easy but he worked hard and stuck to it.”

Alex participated in several community sports including basketball with Upper Makefield Township, Council Rock Basketball Association and the Renegades AAU Basketball in Horsham. He is a 2015 graduate of both Council Rock High School North and the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology and will attend Bucks County Community College in the fall.
