Troop 99 Takes to the Water
A group of Boy Scouts from Newtown's Troop 99 recently completed a merit badge sailing camp in Oyster Bay, NY.
The scouts camped for five days near the WaterFront Center and completed the requirements for the Small-Boat Sailing merit badge, and also earned their Small-Boat Sailor certifications from the US SAILING organization. The camp was conducted in partnership with the WaterFront Center, a non-profit group dedicated to promoting community sailing and other environmentally friendly ways to enjoy the waters of Oyster Bay.
Two local scouts from Troop 113 in Centerport, NY (Ben Grondahl and Justin McLaughlan) camped and sailed with the boys from Troop 99.
