Truck Crashes Into Cold Spring Beverage, Creates 'Gaping Hole': Police
A tractor trailer hit the beer distributor on Rt. 413, causing "severe" damage Monday morning, police said. The driver has not been located.

A tractor trailer hit a Wrightstown Township beer distributor early Monday morning, causing a “gaping hole” and other damage, police said. No injuries were reported.
According to Newtown Township Police, officers responded to Cold Spring Beverage on Durham Road just before 6 a.m. after the alarm was activated.
When officers arrived, they reported a ”gaping hole” on the northwest corner and a large pile of debris. “It was immediately apparent that a vehicle hit the building and left the scene,” police said.

Witnesses told police that a tri-axle tractor trailer attempted to turn around in the parking lot and hit the building in the process. “One witness reported that the commercial vehicle jockeyed several times and as it turned left, the trailer jutted out and struck the corner of the brick facade and concrete block work causing severe damage,” according to the police report.
This statement was verified by damage and evidence that a tractor trailer drove through a snow bank, police said.

Officers checked the area but did not find the driver involved.
Code Enforcement officials responded and inspected the building. A portion of the building will be closed until structural repairs can be made, police said.
Cold Spring, in a post on Facebook, said after a temporary shore-up, the doors are open as normal. “Unfortunately, there were a few beers harmed in the production of this event,” Cold Spring posted.
