Truck Driver Tased By Police After Washington Crossing Bridge Crash

Police said the driver of a truck became combative after crashing into multiple cars while crossing the bridge Saturday.

NEWTOWN, PA — Several people were injured Saturday when the driver of a truck smashed his vehicle into multiple others while driving on Washington Crossing Bridge, police said.

According to Upper Makefield Township police, the driver of the truck was traveling across the bridge from New Jersey to Pennsylvania when he struck several cars on the bridge and kept going. The driver then struck another vehicle that was stopped on Pennsylvania's Route 532 waiting to cross the bridge. The impact caused both cars to go off the roadway, police said.

When police arrived, the driver of the truck became combative, prompting officers to use a Taser to take him into custody, authorities said.
