New polling data ahead of the first presidential debate Monday shows a statistical tie in Pennsylvania between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump. A CNN poll released Monday shows Clinton with a 45-44 lead over Trump, which is within the poll's margin of error of 3 percentage points. In that poll, Gary Johnson has 6 percent support, with Jill Stein showing 3 percent support.
The poll was based on interviews with 1,032 adult Pennsylvanians and was conducted by telephone between Sept. 20 and 25. Landline calls were made to 532 participants; 500 interviews were conducted via cell phone.
The CNN poll is an aberration from nearly all of the polling data over the summer in Pennsylvania, which has showed Clinton with a steady lead.

Another poll taken within the past few days in Pennsylvania shows the race is tightening in the critical battleground state.
A Muhlenberg College/Morning Call poll taken between Sept. 19 and 23 shows Clinton with a 3-point lead in a head-to-head match-up with Trump among likely voters in the Keystone State. That's down 6 points from the week before, when in the same poll she had a 9-point lead over Trump in Pennsylvania.

Experts have predicted the fate of the election rests heavily on the outcome in Pennsylvania.
In a report earlier this month, the New York Times cited political experts who said Pennsylvania looks to be the most likely state to tip the election.
The candidates and surrogates have been pervasive in Pennsylvania, with both campaigns making the Keystone State a frequent stop. Trump has visited Delaware County several times. President Barack Obama was recently in Philadelphia for Clinton.
Tonight's 90-minute debate begins at 9 p.m. and will be aired with no commercials.
