Update On Missing Person Search At Tyler Park Expected Within Next Hour

The entire park is currently closed for the missing person search, park officials confirmed.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: Tyler State Park officials are expected to provide an update around 4:30 p.m. on the search for a missing person that has closed the park Wednesday.

Tyler State Park is closed Wednesday as officials conduct a search for a missing person, park authorities confirmed.

The age and identity of the missing person was not immediately available. The search began at 8 p.m. Tuesday and resumed early Wednesday morning.

"We ask that the general public refrain from using the park until further notice so as not to interfere with search activities," a prepared statement from the park said.

Crews from Newtown Fire Association said via social media they assisted in the search, which began Tuesday.

Newtown Township Police spokeswoman Jean Tanner said the department assisted in the search Tuesday night but the operation has since been turned over to the park rangers.

Northampton Township Police Chief Michael Clark said his department was not called in for the search.
