Village Renaissance Faire exemplifies how a Community can Come Together to Make Something Great

The Renaissance Faire set for Sept 17 & 18 on the donated Middletown Grange Fairgrounds exemplifies how the community spirit is alive and well in Wrightstown, PA. The Faire's Call to expand perhaps the best family friendly renaissance faire has been answered allowing the 17th Village Renaissance Faire continues to expanding its size, offerings, and performers again. On Saturday as the heat reached record highs, volunteers, businesses, community groups came together, to work in the sweltering heat start to build the Renaissance Village of Penns Park. The need for expansion was answered by home depot who donated materials for the faire to build its pirate fleet who will be welcomed at their new port of call, Wrightstown, Bucks County. The port will be on the eastern shore, just west of the Thompson Toyota donated Birds of Prey Exhibition, another annual favorite.

"It’s amazing how many people come to the Village Renaissance Faire after 17 years and still do not know it is run by and for the benefit of our quaint public library." Faire Director Ken Hone shares astoningishly. When asked what he attributes this to, he says, "It’s the faire's success...the Village Renaissance Faire is seen as a regional event, one of the best weekend faires, and probably the best family one. Our reputation has earned the respect of regional and rising acts who perform for us at a fraction of their fees elsewhere because of our charitable person, but no-one would every know because we have commercial faire talent, but we offer a family friendly feel."

Anyone who has been to the faire knows that his statements could not be a more true. All of last year’s performers are returning plus another half dozen new ones. And the Faire remains one of the biggest bargains around, especially when one considers the 11 stages, hundreds of performers, dozens of games, and dozens of free childrens’ crafts and activities, as well as the artisans, living history area, and several animal activities.

This is one can’t miss event for the family, nor the community as all proceeds goto the local library and its free annual programming.
