Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA) is offering free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families through Labor Day as part of the Blue Star Museums program. The program is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 2,000 American museums.
The free admission offer includes tours of the “lower park,” located at the intersection of River Road and Route 532. During the tours, visitors can enter historic buildings, hear stories about George Washington and his daring crossing of the Delaware River, see replicas of the boats used to cross the river, and learn about life during the Revolutionary War.
The free offer also includes tours of the Thompson-Neely House & Farmstead and Bowman’s Hill Tower. The Thompson-Neely House is an 18th century home that was used as a field hospital to care for sick and wounded Continental soldiers. This guided tour includes a look inside the house, information about its history, and a visit to the gravesite of Revolutionary War soldiers. The house is located at the intersection of River and Aquetong Rds.
