Washington Crossing Park Plans Extended Fourth Of July Celebration
The long weekend will feature a Rebels vs. Redcoats car show, a Colonial Field Day, and a step back in time to the American Revolution.

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — Washington Crossing Historic Park has announced plans for an extended Fourth of July celebration including a Rebels vs. Redcoats car show and a Colonial encampment.
COLONIAL FIELD DAY — The events begin on Saturday, July 1 with a Colonial Field Day. During the event, families and friends are invited to compete in spirited competition while playing popular games from the 18th century, including cup and ball, Jacob’s Ladder, hoop and stick, and more. The competition begins at either 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. and lasts an hour and a half. The event is free, but space is limited and pre-registration is required. REBELS & REDCOATS — The celebration of the nation's birthday continues on Sunday, July 2 with the fifth annual "Rebels & Redcoats Classic Car Show" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In keeping with the park’s revolutionary history, the show will feature only classic American, French, British, and German cars, representing the four major countries involved in the Revolutionary War. The show will be held in the parking lot diagonal to the park’s Visitor Center and across River Road. The event is free for spectators. Car owners who would like to register their cars should visit WashingtonCrossingPark.org/events.

LIVING HISTORY —On Independence Day, Tuesday, July 4, visitors are invited to take a step back in time to July 4, 1776 for a living-history celebration. Visitors are invited to explore a military encampment and watch Colonial townspeople demonstrate and sell their crafts from noon to 4 p.m. A highlight of the day will be readings of the Declaration of Independence at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. At 2:45 p.m. in the visitor center auditorium, historical interpreter David Price will give a short talk about “The Battle of Assunpink Creek: The Most Pivotal Moment of the Revolutionary War?” Price is the author of a trilogy of books about the Ten Crucial Days of the Revolution. He will be available to sign copies of his books, which are sold in the park’s gift shop.
Admission on the Fourth is $8 for people 12 and over, $4 for children ages 5 to 11, and free for those under age five, active-duty military, and members of the Friends of Washington Crossing Park. Families with up to two adults and two children living in the same household can purchase a single-family ticket for $20. Proceeds will support educational and historical programming in the park.
